This picture was inspired 100% from John Lennon's song, 'Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)'. I love this song with a passion! Of course, this is the case with most of his songs. His music and songwriting is amazing. What a wonderful talent he had. What would the world have been like without Lennon? He was one of a kind, he really was.
In this picture, I drew Mr. Lennon (left) sitting with his son, Sean Lennon. John wrote this song for his son, by the way. When I listen to this song, I always imagine John spending time with his son. A time of bonding and just knowing how much John loved his son so much. You can really tell just by how he sings the song. It's beautiful! Oh yes, and that's Yoko in the picture hanging on the wall. She looks like a geisha girl.
It almost looks as though she's watching over her household and family, no? As if you couldn't already tell, this pic was drawn with a lot of Japanese influence (not just in the style of Japanese Animation). The song is very much in the Japanese style itself so that also inspired me to draw them in kimonos and in that atmosphere around them. I have absolutely NO idea how close to an actual kimono I got to cuz I drew the kimono's from the best of my memory. So I apologize if they don't look like kimono's at all!
I drew John wearing a sun kimono and his son, Sean, in night. The background shows a sunset... so if you think about it, it's day turning into night, so it's in the middle of changing. It's like half and half, ya know? Don't know if that makes sense, but I like the concept of it all. Ah feelz so shmart
The background was done 50/50 in Photoshop and by hand. I think you can tell what was done in what.
And yes, Sean's holding a Yoshii egg! Don't know why I did that... just to throw in for fun. Well, 'tiz a long description for a pic. Hope you didn't mind
